London Lions Foundation

Who we are?

The London Lions Sports CIC is the community arm of London’s only professional basketball club. Working across London, we use basketball as a tool to address localised key social issues. We exist to represent our fans, community, and people by celebrating the culture of our city. The London Lions are outspoken and unafraid in the mission to driving social change. Community, inclusion, and expression are integral elements of the work we do as shown by the work we do to empower those around us.

Our Approach

We engage and support our community delivery via the partnership model, working with established community groups and local community leaders to maximise the direct impact on the communities we are working in. We are committed to enriching existing community programmes whilst developing bespoke targeted programmes based on local need. We choose to take an active role in the development of not only our players but in the people around us.

Being able to form purposeful relationships with businesses in the community has been a key focal point for us. These relationships allow us to ensure that as we grow, the community grows with us.

Our programmes

We are proud to provide programmes aimed at supporting the development of young people both on and off the court. Providing support and mentoring to some of London’s most deprived communities as a way of helping them achieve their goals and aspirations. Programmes like our basketball summer camps have allowed up and coming players to showcase their talent with guidance from some of the league’s best coaches and players.

Our player pathway programme in co-operation with Barking Abbey Academy has provided youngsters with the opportunity to make their way into professional basketball while coming to the end of their education.
